Hi there,
As the subject says, I can't play encrypted dvds.

According to dmesg the model is

Code:

ieee1394: Node 0-00:1023: Max speed [S400] - Max payload [2048]
scsi 2:0:0:0: CD-ROM            Slimtype DVDRW SSM-8515S  GRS2 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0

I cannot play encrypted dvd's (using xine and mplayer) under linux, although libdvdcss is installed. Playing the same dvd with the windowsversion of mplayer works fine though. Burning Cds, DVDs and playing cds works under linux, too.

The output of xine is:

Code:

This is xine (X11 gui) - a free video player v0.99.5.
(c) 2000-2004 The xine Team.
libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.9 for DVD access
libdvdread: Invalid main menu IFO (VIDEO_TS.IFO).

At the same time there come up some errors in dmesg
Code:

sr 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0
end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 1080
Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 270
Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 271
Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 272
Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 273
Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 274
Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 275
Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 276
Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 277
Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 278
Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 279
end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 1080

I tried several region codes (even none set) but that does not change anything.

I think this is a problem with the driver, so if you cannot help, could you please advise me where to report this bug? I don't know whether upstream kernel is the right place...

Thanks,
Momsen

P.S.: Feel free to ask for further information...

I think I waited enough to not feel ashamed if I bump *g*
BTW even if you know where to ask for further advice or file a bug, that would be a great help!
