I just got a HP-1210 combo printer (one of those printer/scanner/copiers). According to the printer database, both scanning and printing will work, if you use the version of hpoj in cvs:
http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-PSC_1210

Scanning works well, but I can't get printing to work at all . . .I grabbed the HP 1210 PPD file from the link above, put it in /usr/share/cups/model. CUPS 1.1.18-r4 (via the web interface) found the PPD file. When I try to print a test page, CUPS thinks it is printing, but it always sits in the queue.

I turned debug on in my CUPS long, and I see this in /var/log/cups/error_log:

Code:
D [15/May/2003:06:53:00 -0500] [Job 24] KID4 exited with status 9
D [15/May/2003:06:53:00 -0500] [Job 24] Renderer exit stat: 9

D [15/May/2003:06:53:00 -0500] [Job 24] Process dieing with "Error closing renderer", exit stat: 9
D [15/May/2003:06:53:00 -0500] [Job 24] Error closing renderer
D [15/May/2003:06:53:00 -0500] UpdateJob: job 24, file 0 is complete.
D [15/May/2003:06:53:00 -0500] StopJob: id = 24, force = 0
D [15/May/2003:06:53:00 -0500] StopJob: printer state is 3
E [15/May/2003:06:53:00 -0500] PID 5906 stopped with status 9!

Does anyone know what this means? Google isn't helping me

I found this message in my error log as well -- seems that something is wrong with foomatic-gswrapper:

I fixed it, after about a day of googling, and trying everything I could think of. Here is the link that finally gave me my answer:
