All of a sudden I get this error when I load up listen media player:

The only thing I think I may have done was update portage.
I've search google to no end, as well as these forums.
Anyone have any ideas?

Are you running Gnome?
If not, do you know if you have DBUS running? |

I don't know if this broke it or not, but I just remembered installing hotplug on my system...
I doubt that's it, but just FYI. |

Well well well...
Did you try to reemerge it? (when I say that, it is because I have no more ideas ) |

Yep, I re-emerged dbus, listen, hald, hotplug.
Basically everything I could think of that I may have interacted with that day |

Definitely a DBus problem. Did you try re-emerging it and running:
dispatch-conf && env-update && source /etc/profile && /etc/init.d/dbus restart?
if so, then did you install:
dbus-glib
dbus-qt3-old
dbus-python _________________ I'm too lazy to keep this stupid signature up to date, so here's something more interesting:

Hi !
Do you use the no-ntpl profile for any reason?
I suggest you to switch to the "normal" profile, using:
| Code: |
eselect profile list
eselect profile set [number of your choice]

I don't know what causes it, but you're not the first who have this profile without knowing why
Let us know if that works after recompiling |

| fix: | | emerge --unmerge dbus-python && emerge =dev-python/dbus-python-0.71 | This fixed the problem for me. It looks like there's a problem in dbus-python-0.80.1. I'm searching bugs.gentoo.org to see if it's been reported yet.
EDIT: I couldn't find an existing bug, so I submitted one
EDIT2: If this works for you, then you should probably do | Code: | | # echo "=dev-python/dbus-python-0.80.1" >> /etc/portage/package.mask | to make sure you don't revert during your next update |
