Finally, Xfce 4.4.0 is released :D
An overview/tour of it can be found here

I can't wait to see how much it differs or not from the RC2
So how long before it hits unstable in portage?

Edit:
If any moderator or admin find this thread more suitable in OTW, please move it. Thanks

EDIT. Just did an emerge --sync, and its in portage :)

Code:
# emerge -uNDav world

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating world dependencies /
!!! Multiple versions within a single package slot have been
!!! pulled into the dependency graph:

('ebuild', '/', 'xfce-base/libxfcegui4-4.3.99.2', 'nomerge') pulled in by
  ('ebuild', '/', 'xfce-base/xfwm4-4.3.99.2', 'nomerge')

('ebuild', '/', 'xfce-base/libxfcegui4-4.4.0', 'merge') pulled in by
  ('ebuild', '/', 'xfce-base/xfce-mcs-manager-4.4.0', 'merge')
  ('ebuild', '/', 'xfce-base/xfce-mcs-plugins-4.4.0', 'merge')

It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in the
dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can not be
installed simultaneously.

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page
or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

!!! Depgraph creation failed.

:( I never got this problem before ;) Maybe the solution is to wait for tomorrow's sync ;)

Oh, that is the xfce4 ebuild itself that is missing ;) I can update its dependencies manually, but the meta-package isn't in [my] portage :)

That's fast, very fast :) Never thought it would become available the same day, great work you devs

After an emerge --sync I'll have these available:
Code:

Not yet, hopefully soon

Hehe!

Updated here. I'm not a xfce guru so I don't see much differences... The only one I noticed so far: I use aMSN, and new messages were not making the taskbar icon to blink... now yes (yay!).

I had to create my one xfce4-4.4.0.ebuild in an overlay to get rid of the dependencies problem :)

I just got done updating everything. Had to update everything manually do to there not being the meta package of xfce4 heh. Didn't mind though. I noticed that the new dbus update though broke a lot of packages so must of my times was rebuilding everything that needed dbus lol.

I must say, I really like the new Thunar. Has mount support and that makes things a lot easier now. Can easily mount and unmount drives :) Also Xfce in a whole feels so much faster. Like Thunar now loads straight up when I click its icons. No waiting :) I love how terminal now has real transparency :) No more needing Gnome-terminal for that. They did an excellent job with 4.4.0 :) Works perfect with Beryl :)

Cool :)

Here's a mirror list of the available packages, seems like most of them are in portage already, yay :D I'll sync later on today when I get back home from work, then I guess they're all there
Have a great day fellow Xfce users

Excellent!!! Now I just have to sort out the problems with blocking packages (for some reason, every now and then some package wants to bring in xfce4-panel-4.3, which causes blocks)

Is it stable or unstable in portage, my guess is unstable, but I'll see if I can give it a go.

Stable, and for the most part masked (there could be some that aren't masked, but I'm not sure...)

I think I've found the first bug with the ebuilds:

xfce4-extras requires xfce4-mount version 0.4.8, but only 0.4.7 is in portage :?

Just synced, only see xfce4.4 beta1 in /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask and ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -av xfce4 shows:
Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -av xfce4

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

At the moment, AFAIK, the following ebuilds are not available:

xfce4-4.4.0
xfce4-mount-0.4.8

All the rest of the packages are in portage (just checked via packages.gentoo.org). For example, in your listing there, its wanting to pull in xfce-base/xfwm4-4.3.99.2 (which is the RC2 version), but the 4.4.0 version is available. Have you synced recently????

Also, I don't think the xfce4-toys is wanted anymore, so you might want to unmerge that manually, and same sith xfce4-systray.

Yea I just synced before running that command.
