How do I clean this up? I have unmerged gedit, in the hopes that that would do it (yes, admittedly, I don't know a whole lot about how portage really works), however, it did not. TIA!

Hi There
Are you running ccache?
Also try removing gedit from /var/tmp/portage

Not running ccache. Cleaned out /var/tmp/portage. Problem still persists. |

This is the effect of filesystem corruption. Not sure what you can do to fix it (I never bothered since mine is on a separate partition, easy to wipe). |

All,
Ran into this problem and saw this post. I then did a fsck on my file systems and they were fine. Please check this thread for the solution that worked for me:
Code: | rm -fr /var/cache/edb/* && emerge --metadata |
