Hi. I think I'm (finally) going to get round to building my own website. I was thinking of using php (which my ISP supports) with html and css. I've done the odd bit of html before (although I can't really remember it now) but other than that I'm a total noob. I don't have a lot of cash right now to go buying a pile of books, so I was wondering if anyone knew of any good weblinks to tutorial and/or reference sites?

Cheers.

http://www.phpbuilder.com is another good site. I just looked and it seems their ads have gotten a tad out of hand but the content is still good.

For CSS, check out Glish.com . There's a good number of sample layouts to examine, and links to sites with great use of CSS.

For HTML, crank up your popup blocker and head on over to www.w3schools.com

Not only that, but it also covers:
  • XHTML
  • CSS
  • XML
  • XSL
  • DTD
  • DOM
  • WAP
  • Schema
  • XPath
  • XForms
  • SOAP
  • WSDL
  • XMLSpy
  • JavaScript
  • VBScript
  • DHTML
  • WMLScript
  • SQL
  • ASP
  • ADO

While not that great for learning, I use it all the time for reference... even though I know my stuff. Personally, I can only vouch for the HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and DHTML sites. Everything else was just listed from their front page and I haven't used them.
