It's in filesystems, I believe.

Remember to turn on "Prompt for development..." under "Code maturity level options," otherwise you won't see it. The option is called "Device File System" |

Or, more precisely, "/dev filesystem support (EXPERIMENTAL)". But the idea is the same. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

Perhaps this is a bit esoteric, but why does gentoo need this? What does it do that's so cool? _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..

Naan Yaar, thanks for the link. It was very helpful.
rac, I had already searched google and I didn't get the point of it. There are a lot of people on both sides of the fence. Gentoo is based on speed and it seemed like a lot of the things I read said that devfs was a more bloated way of handling things that can already be handled in the kernel. I now know that devfs is much nicer from a development perspective, despite the fact that many see it as kernel bloat. Thanks for the link though. I probably should have been more specific with my question. _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..

No problem. The link was actually from:
http://www.gentoo.org/index-articles.html
It is, for me at least, a good place to get a feel for why things are the way they are in gentoo.
