btw mirroring .. if you use many gentoo machines on a local net, is it wise to have the /usr/portage/distfiles directory nfs mounted ? or are there any other possible mirroring sollutions ? |

Um...yes it is. It's what I used to set up rsync5.us.gentoo.org.
What problems are you having?

Um...then set up your rsyncd.conf file to look something like this:
Code: | pid file = /var/run/rsyncd.pid
motd file = /etc/rsync/rsyncd.motd
syslog facility = local3
timeout = 150
[gentoo-x86-portage]
path = /space/gentoo/rsync
comment = Gentoo Linux Portage tree
[gentoo-portage]
path = /space/gentoo/rsync
comment = Gentoo Linux Portage tree |
Now, you need to mirror the Gentoo Linux Portage tree. You should use the following command to do so:
Code: | rsync -rlptDvz --delete
rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage/ /space/gentoo/rsync/ |
Just like it says in the mirroring doc. Just change /space/gentoo/rsync to whatever path you're going to store the rsync files within.
What, specifically, are you finding lacking in the mirroring doc?

Well, some weeks ago, I saw other docs that completely was confusing me...something about DNS that I need to get from gentoo...now I got the idea.
That's it? I don't need to speak with no1 from gentoo admins?
How my server will be apdated daily?
I think to add space for sources too like on ibiblio site ( 6 Gb ) _________________ All for one and one for All

Read the doc. It tells you who to contact.

Read the doc. It tells you to make a cron job that syncs your local tree to the remote one. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
