I am building gentoo for a USB stick and am wondering what files I can safely leave off the stick without harming anything
I am starting with the gentoo livecd, which is ~450mb after decompression
I plan on squashfs-ing the entire distro while on the USB stick
I have a 128mb USB stick that I would love to fit this on, but I realize that it might not be possible
I am now re-merging the entire system with -Os to further reduce the size of the directories
I plan on switching to busybox to save even more space, if possible
I will install a very minimal kernel, and I'm planning on removing all the sources (/usr/src/)
All the stick will have to do is boot and run X (KDE will definitely push it over the size limit)
There will be no compiling or such (so no gcc is needed)
Does anyone know what files I can safely remove from the system?
I think the big things will be languages (perl, gcc, python, ruby), does anyone know where their non-runtime libraries and executables live?
Even better, is there any package I can completely remove?

I had already found that page, and it is basicly what I am using to make my system
I was wondering, are there any directories that I can remove from that?
I know I can at least remove the compiling part of GCC, because that disk was designed for install and I won't need to compile...

It's probably easier to build the system with ROOT="/whatever" so you don't have GCC and similar things on there to begin with.
