Hello and happy New Year!
All I really wanted to do was update to the latest Amarok, so I could hopefully sync my Creative Zen Vision:M and iRiver with the use of libmtp. I've already emerged libmtp.
I have done much reading to solve this and it appears to be a problem with modular X, or the lack thereof. I though I already upgraded to modular X, but I cannot remember.
Code: | tux ~ # emerge -p amarok
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!

Why am I getting all those blocks?

Well, you still have the old X. If you'd emerged modular X, all those packages would already be installed. You'll have to unmerge x11-base/xorg-x11-6.9.<whatever>. Basically, just follow the guides:
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/x/x11/modular-x-howto.xml
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Modular_Xorg
You may want to see if your /etc/make.profile link is set to the latest for your arch. If it's not, some stuff may be needlessly masked. _________________ Thomas S. Howard |
