Hi
I've just recovered from some filesystem corruption. Don't really know what happened, and its not that important right now. The problem I have now is that parts of my filesystem have gone, most notably nearly all of /var, and bits of /lib. /usr and /opt seem to be fine, but its a little hard to be really sure.
As portage keeps its database of what I have installed in /var, it no longer knows that I have nearly all of a system installed and wants to install it all again. Also the bits of /lib that have gone mean that none of the rc scripts work.
Anybody got any smart ideas of how I can avoid re-compiling the whole system?
thanks

and 194 more. But don't count on magic. If you don't have a backup, you *will* have to reinstall. _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto
