I still can not get gtk+ to install clean. I have tried installing cairo then pango and then gtk+ but still come to the same problem. I tried unmerging all 3 and reemerging, same thing.

There are no "cairo" use flags as indicated by previous posters on the forum.

There is in fact a "cairo" USE flag: http://www.gentoo-portage.com/Search?search=&use=cairo, just not, so far as I can tell, for pango: http://www.gentoo-portage.com/x11-libs/pango/USE#ptabs.

However, this bug indicates that you'll need to emerge pango twice to get it to stick for gtk+ to emerge properly (or possibly emerge them in this order: cairo, pango, and gtk+).

HTH,
m

Noted. I was thinking of giving 'FEATURE="--with-cairo" emerge pango' a try, but not sure that would fix it.

Quote:
However, this bug indicates that you'll need to emerge pango twice to get it to stick for gtk+ to emerge properly (or possibly emerge them in this order: cairo, pango, and gtk+).

I have tried emerging in that order, neither of which worked.

There has been suggestions by others that removing old libpng files from /usr/lib had fixed their problem. It hasnt for me yet.

Here's the other config.log files:
gtk+ is: http://home.tentric.com/~anthony/gtk.config.log
cairo is: http://home.tentric.com/~anthony/cairo.config.log
pango is: http://home.tentric.com/~anthony/pango.config.log

This is also apparently in the bugs db:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=139083

As a side note, I went a head and attempted adding cairo to the global USE flags. I then recompiled gcc, cairo, pango, and gtk+ and still got the same error.
