| Anybody gotten the gnome2-beta ebuilds (found at http://www.gentoo.org/~spider) working? Mine fails everytime when trying to build gtk+2. Haven't had any problems compiling anything else, could be because these aren't official ebuilds (yet). |

As it says in large letters on the front page there.... mail to me when you have troubles, I try to deal with such problems as far as I can, since they "work for me" I really want to know.

Sorry for being new to the whole gentoo/emerge thing, but how do I install that gtk+2 package? can I,say, export PKGDIR=/usr/portage and use emerge -k gtk+2blabla.nameofpackage -p ?
Can somebody please explain this to me? the man page differs from emerge --help |

GTK+ 2 is in the portage tree.
Unmask it from /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask and then emerge x11-libs/gtk+-2.0.2-r2.ebuild |

| I have installed it now, and it looks good. applets wouldn`t work, but I em emerging the gnome2 applets now. |

there is a list with comparison here http://www.gentoo.org/~spider
Some stuff will break, but most of gnome1.4 can coexist with 2.0 |
