|
|
I got through the install and rebooted the box and got this:
TCP: Hash tables configured (established 16384 bind 16384)
Linux IP multicast router 0.06 plus PIM-SM
VFS: Cannot open root device "sda1" or 08:01
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:01
Press L1-A to return to the boot prom
In the silo.cnfg file "root=/dev/sda1". Is my problem with the silo.conf or with the SCSI drivers that are loaded? What can I do to get my box to boot?

Most likely you do not have the SCSI drivers built into your kernel. If you emerge the gentoolkit and do a "lspci", what do you get? The Netra T-1 105's and 200's use the Symbios Driver not the SUN LSI Logic one. Its a little misleading.
Assuming you are using a 2.6 kernel.
Goto Device Drivers
Then SCSI Device Support
then SCSI Low-Level Drivers
and the one you want should be the "SYM53C8XX Version 2 SCSI Support" driver
Save that rebuild your kernel and boot to that and you should be ok. This is assuming you have your /etc/fstab and yout silo.conf entries correct.

Just for clarification, lspci comes from the sys-apps/pciutils package. |

Weeve, thanks for pointing that out. I had one thing in my head but wrote another.... Dang dyslexia.
