|
|
Yesterday when I typed emerge -auvtND world, portage notified me that the use flags on all of the Xorg packages had changed and thus recompiled all of them. I figured that it wasn't a big deal because it was only going to take about an hour and maybe the change just needed to happen in portage. All of them had a yellow "X" use flag added to them.
Then today when I wake up and do emerge -auvtND world, portage says that now they are are (-X)*. Ok, what the fuck? Portage is going to make me recompile Xorg twice in 2 days so that the "X" use flag can be added and then subsequently removed the next day? What kind of fucking shit is that? |

Same here. Bug in portage? A hiccup in the mirrors? A screwup in the system profile? I was going to file a bug report, but if I'm not the first to see it there's almost always a bug report already filed. I don't see one in bugzilla this time, so maybe it's not a bug but a one-time hiccup. Anyone else see this? Anyone know what's going on?
Fortunately most of them are tiny X apps that compile quickly. If only xorg itself wasn't in the list |

I think it's not a change in the xorg apps themselves, it's a change to the x-modular e-class. Someone must be mucking around with what other e-classes x-modular inherits, whether yesterday's changes have been reverted or another change has been made is hard to tell. |

OK ... so what could I do?... go ahead and re-emerge all those that remove X flag, as I am taking that X flag has been removed like xmms flag some days ago?
I still have X flag in my make.conf also.
What's going on?
What if the X flag is not gone and come back tomorrow and I have to re-emerge that list again? |

I had the same behavior.
One thing that worry me is that i use only the stable branch (x86). I am a bit surprised that in a day a flag can move in and out ? |

Eclasses are not keyworded, or indeed versioned, therefore any changes made in one instantly propogates through your Portage tree. _________________ Solutions to misc kde problems |
