I recently emerge --sync 'd and then this happened... no idea what I did. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Something wrong with python I guess?

Thanks

try emerging the snapshot from cd over the current portage.
it will overwrite . and then emerge --sync.
if you dont have cd download the latest snapshot and install it.
