Vendor: DVDRW Model: IDE1004 Rev: 0151
In my case I have a quite rare hardware setup (concerning firewire, gentoo, mac) and I didn't think it would be possible to flash that drive (the old FW has problems with some cdr brands).
..until I found an italian howto. That even worked over firewire.
- First get yourself the newest dvd+rw-tools, 7.0 in my case. I'm wondering why the gentoo ebuild doesn't has the btcflash sources.
- Unpack and do
I'm wondering why the gentoo ebuild of dvd+rw-tools doesn't have the btcflash sources.
Get the .HEX firmware (without the surrounding Windows .exe flasher as it is provided officially) HERE inside the DOS firmware packages, in my case in BTC1004IM_V0251-HEX.rar
Do the flashing providing device link (/dev/hdc for example) and the firmware file:
Code: | dvd+rw-tools-7.0 # ./btcflash /dev/firewire/dvd ../V251.HEX
BTC DVD+/-RW firmware flash utility 2004/04/29
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Loaded firmware from ../V251.HEX
Firmware checksum is 406E
Drive is currently: [DVDRW ][IDE1004 ][0151]
Firmware appears to be: [DVDRW ][IDE1004 ][0251]
Type "YES" to proceed with flash: YES
Uploading firmware...
Flashing drive...
Drive is now: [DVDRW ][IDE1004 ][0251]
Please reboot before using the drive. |
[Added:] Actually for my 1004 the 1008 FW does a good job, performs better with most brands. I haven't tested if it can double layer now. _________________ HP ZBook Power 15.6" G8 i7-11800H|HP EliteDesk 800G1 i7-4790|HP Compaq Pro 6300 i7-3770 |
