Code:

root@localhost root # emerge -F gtk+
Calculating dependencies... done!

!!! Digest verification failed:
!!! /usr/portage/x11-libs/gtk+/gtk+-2.8.8.ebuild
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
!!! Got: 4109
!!! Expected: 4115

!!! Fetch for /usr/portage/x11-libs/gtk+/gtk+-2.8.19.ebuild failed, continuing...

!!! Some fetch errors were encountered.  Please see above for details.

root@localhost root #

Google revealed nothing but the vague advice to try again in an hour (did that, no help). What is unusual is that portage is not attempting to re-download the file. Normally when a file is corrupt portage immediately re-downloads it. Also what is odd is that sha & some of the other checksums check out ok.

On the meantime I suppose I will have to play games with masking packages but I am curious as to why this is happening.

happens with broken downloads or other errors like that. The best solution is to remove the package gtk+-2.8.19.tar.bz2 for /usr/portage/distfiles and resyncing the portage
Code:
emerge --sync

and then trying to reemerge the package.
