Code: | * glibc-2.4 is nptl-only!
* NPTL requires a CHOST of i486 or better
!!! ERROR: sys-libs/glibc-2.4-r3 failed.
Call stack:
ebuild.sh, line 1562: Called dyn_setup
ebuild.sh, line 665: Called pkg_setup
glibc-2.4-r3.ebuild, line 1079: Called die
!!! please add USE='nptl nptlonly' to make.conf
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.

Do you suppose the extra quote mark in there (end of line) could be confusing things? Or was that just a copy/paste error? |

I'm not an expert, but if you could post the output of "emerge --info", folks could see your CHOST and other stuff that could be relevant.
I've got the same version of glibc installed here, without any odd problems (for once), but I'm on PPC. |

A few days ago I had the same error. It seems that I used the wrong CHOST during the installation long ago. My CHOST was set to i386-..... Switched to i686 and recompiled the compiler, system and world. |
