last night I emerge gaim-0.64 w/o problem on my laptop, but this morning at work it will not emerge on my desktop.

The ebuild is present
net-im/gaim is in my world file

Code:
emerge -Up world

doesn't show gaim
Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -p gaim

reports: [ebuild U ] net-im/gaim-0.63-r1 [0.63]

It isn't so important that I get gaim-0.64, but I'm worried that this might be a bigger problem with my portage/gentoo system.

Any ideas or suggestions?

In the Changelog for the ebuild it says:

Code:
  05 Jun 2003; Seemant Kulleen <seemant@gentoo.org> gaim-0.64.ebuild:
  masked coz it's crashy and coredumpy

I thought that might be the case, so I looked in package.mask and only saw an entry for

=net-im/gaim-0.59.2

I'm having this same problem, but I'm not really disturbed by it.

Your discussion has made me curious as to where it is being masked though... I checked package.mask, and the ebuild file, but I can't see anything to indicate that it might be blocked. What other files should I know about?

From gaim-0.64.ebuild:
Code:
 KEYWORDS="-x86 ~ppc -alpha -sparc"

See it is -x86 (minus) not ~ which means that it is masked.

the emerge worked fine for me using:

Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -U gaim

and GAIM has been running fine for days since...

It looks like it segfaults when the server is offline:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22285

I havent experienced any problems with 0.64 either.
