Im in the live cd download secion and I see the basic iso and the 3 stages iso. What is the difference?  |

You can start installing gentoo linux from three diferent stages...
Starting from stage1, as provided in the basic iso I think, you will build everything from source, getting the most optimized system ever...
Starting from stage2, you'll only build the base system, you get a precompiled set of Compiler, CLibrary, etc...
Stage3 is like a complete base install... The first thing you do after a stage3 install is choosing and configuring a kernel... then, you're nearly ready for reboot :)

Yup, any of them will work. It's just a question of how much you want to build on your system and how much you want pre-built. Lower stage number means fewer stuff comes pre-built -- completely up to you.
