I currently just installed Gentoo Linux using my cable modem. My network card is a 3com 905. DHCP works flawlessly while im connected directly to my cable modem. As soon as i connect it to my linksys router DHCP fails. The router works fine with Redhat 9.0 and windows. I get the error message
"failed to bring up eth0
netmount not started"
This only happens though when its connected to the router |

Have to ask the obvious, is the DHCP server turned on for your router? When the CAT5 cable is plugged in, do the lights on your NIC and on the router light up? You could be using the wrong cable. |
