As this motherboard has a jmicron IDE controller and is horribly bleeding-edge in other ways, I /really/ need an install CD with an amd64 kernel version 2.6.18-rc4-mm or newer (yaright
)

This, needless to say, doesn't exist - and I don't *have* a machine to make one on. I'm posting this from a mac. :/


Can anyone point me at an appropriate cd, or even make one? I'd be eternally grateful

No, as I don't have a spare x86_64 PC laying around to install on. Using all-generic-ide doesn't work either - then the kernel just crashes.

I have the same motherboard -- the Abit AB9-PRO. I got Gentoo amd64 installed on it. There are some tricks to doing it however. I've outlined how to do this in this post:
