[SOLVED] /lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d/: No such file or dir.

Hi there,

I think I may have broken my Gentoo box. I did an emerge sync after far too long - last time was April, but I don't think I did any system updates then - and it told me to update portage. So I updated portage, and then my kernel, and then restarted my computer. Before I could update portage I had to fix my /etc/make.profile symlink - I made it point to /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/2006.0. During bootup I kept getting errors about /lib/rc-scripts/net.modules.d/ not being found.

Probably the best thing is to boot up the LiveCD or the minimal install CD and reinstall on top of your broken installation.

Fixed it by doing an "emerge -u system" - the folder still isn't there, but no more bootup errors. *shrug* works for me. Thanks anyway.

The problem was that when you emerged the new baselayout you were supposed to symlink the existing net.eth* init scripts to net.lo (it says this at the end of the emerge). Not doing this caused the network scripts to fail with the error message you posted because you would still be running the old, incorrect versions, and all services that depend on network would fail to start.

Emerging system again probably just replaced all the init scripts with the proper ones.

i have a same problema, and i'm remove /etc/init.d/net.eth0 and net.lo and install again dhcp.
And now working
