Hey I have this problem with vim, it doesnt auto indent, in my .vimrc file there is the set ai made by the gentoo guys...didnt work...tried adding set autoindent myself...dint work....is this a know problem that I am unaware of, because in RH8 auto indenting works, or is there something I have misconfigured...btw I am in console mode.(ie not in X)...if that makes any difference.

Try also setting si (smartindent). And be sure to tell vim in what language it is written, so that you just don't start vim and start typing, but so that you start it with a file as parameter so that vim can figure out which language it should be indenting for. _________________ Paul "ptman" Tötterman |
