I have installed gentoo on a sparc 220R.
This sparcs has two network interfaces, one onboard and one on a pci64 card, both are of the happymeal type.
The thing is, each time i boot the machine both nics have the same mac id. I have to change it each time by using ifconfig.
I have put this into the net.eth1 scripts but it stills annoys me.
Why does this happen ??? I swapped the card just to be sure bt the new card gets the same MAC.
Both nics plug into the same switch but in different vlans. The switch doesnt like the double mac.

this is an OBP env setting. at the ok prompt, you should be able to check and set:
ok> printenv local-mac-address?
false
ok> setenv local-mac-address? true

Thanx !!
Saddly, the sparc proved to be WAY to slow.. changed to a simple P4 desktop system and it flies... |
