|
|
I am getting very frustrated with syncing my Dell Axim X5 with linux. At this point, I am just trying to get the stupid thing to connect. When I put it in the dock, I see the stuff I should see in dmesg, and it looks good.
But then, when I go to run synce-serial-start as root, it says it's waiting for my device to connect... but nothing happens. So I run it again while I see the axim trying to connect and it might fail, but it might not. If it connects, it then says it doesn't find dccm running... so, I run that as a normal user, then I need to re run synce-serial-start as root. And then... it seems if I run synce-serial-start enough times... get this... my keyboard just completely quits working... COMPLETELY. I have to literally reboot with the hard reset button because it seems reboot doesn't work from the gnome menu.
Does this at all sound normal? I don't think it does. I'm trying to follow this guide.
Perhapes I'm confused about something. I don't know. I really want to get this working though because I think it'd be an excellent way to keep my windows stuff sync'd with my linux stuff... stuff=contacts, tasks, notes, you know. _________________ Desktop: ABit AN8, Athlon64 X2 4400+ 939 2.75GHz, 2x1GB Corsair XMS DDR400, 2x160GB SATA RAID-0, 2x20"W, Vista Ultimate x64

Has no one tried to get this particular PPC to work with linux? It's not some off brand PPC. _________________ Desktop: ABit AN8, Athlon64 X2 4400+ 939 2.75GHz, 2x1GB Corsair XMS DDR400, 2x160GB SATA RAID-0, 2x20"W, Vista Ultimate x64

I have an X30 so I don't know if you have to do anything special or not, but I have found that Dell PPCs like to only keep the serial connection open for a short time. It helps to tap your PPCs screen just before running synce-serial-start. Assuming you have everything else setup right you should do these steps:
1.) run dccm as a normal user
2.) become root
3.) set your pocket pc in the dock
4.) tap the screen and run synce-serial-start
You can use usbview to see if the PPC is ready to connect or not.
You might also want to look at aximsite.com for more help
This thread is getting a bit old, but might still be helpful: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=55672&page=2&highlight=synce |
