|
|
Have you ever wondered how does Google Earth choose which browser to launch when opening some link? Well, here is the answer:
Code: | $ strings /opt/googleearth/libbase.so | fgrep -A 3 firefox
firefox:opera:mozilla:netscape
Could not launch any web browser. Please make sure
you have set the $BROWSER environment variable to
the filename of the web browser we should launch! |
The list of supported built-in browsers is hardcoded. It will try firefox first, then opera, then mozilla and last netscape. If your preferred browser is not the one Google Earth launches, then the solution is to set BROWSER environment variable before launching googleearth.
So, Opera users might want to run BROWSER=opera googleearth.
Minimalistic users might prefer BROWSER="links -g" googleearth.
I hope you find this tip valuable. |

Well, it is available for x86 arch (as ~testing). Not sure if it will work on i386, but it works (with a few problems) on my pentium 3. |
