Well what is very strange is that ekiga does not even show up the Video4Linux plugin, but only the "Picture" one.

Quick answer : luvcview works fine with libsdl-1.2.11. Great !

But I still cannot get Ekiga to detect my new Quickcam Pro 5000 :(
That solves it for me too. Now I'll investigate the ekiga problem.
Thanks for your help!

Hi,

OK now Ekiga works for me but it's very hard to say why :-(

I'm not sure about this but it might be because I emerged gst-plugins-v4l. And if it's the case it did not work just after having emerged it, but after having rebooted.

Works for me now too! :D For me, emerging gst-plugins-v4l did not bring the postive effect but activating the v4l USE flag for dev-libs/pwlib. I had v4l2 before but apparently you need both.

Thx for all your help :D

The driver has made its way into the official portage tree, it's called linux-uvc. So you can remove the ebuild from the Overlay and use officially supported ones ;)

I had a similar problem, but I got audio working on a HP Pavilion dv6500 (with Realtek HD)
applying patches (hda_proc.c & patch_realtek.c) on latest testing version (~x86) of alsa-driver and alsa-headers.
I'm running ALSA 1.0.14 from portage.
