Hi all! :)
I'm currently finishig an installation on a software raid (raid0) but I get this message when trying to install silo:
Code:
# silo -C /etc/silo.conf
/boot/silo.conf appears to be valid
Fatal error: Only RAID1 supported

My root partition /dev/md1 is raid0 and here's my silo.conf:

Code:
partition = 1
root = /dev/md1
timeout = 5
image = /boot/vmlinux-2.4.32-sparc-r6
        label = linux

Is there anything I can do about it? :roll:
Oh btw /boot is NOT on a spare partition...

Any hints? :)

Haven't seen this error before - but have you checked your kernel configuration and confirmed that in the RAID section you have RAID level 0 (in addition to RAID level 1) support ?

BTW Personally I'm staying away from Software RAID on Gentoo/Sparc until we can fsck MD RAID Partitions. I'll probably wait till we have the latest MD with a 2.6 based kernel available.

Yes the RAID0 option was enabled but not the RAID1, anyway I wasn't using RAID 1 at this time.

Are you talkin' about this annoying baselayout bug?
The thing is my problem is solved now with a trick, I simply put /boot on a spare raid1 partition but at the first boot I realized I had to disable fsck in my fstab which is really not a good thing for long-term use.
I've tried to use a 2.6 kernel to see wether it would change anything or not, but 2.6 vanilla freezes the openboot process on this message: "Booting the kernel".
Anyway that's another problem, I'll probably open another post.
