Helo there, I'm new to Gentoo, well all is working perfect except printer, it is the Hewlett Packard DeskJet 710c (winprinter).
So I have one question, can any body tell me step by step how to install that printer??

Maybe I don't remember everything, but basically:

1. emerge cups
2. /etc/init.d/cupsd start
3. emerge pnm2ppa
4. Edit /etc/pnm2ppa.conf (Especially the version variable!)
5. Go to http://www.linuxprinting.org, generate a PPD-File für your HP DJ710C and put it in /usr/share/cups/model
6. Use http://localhost:631 or the KDE printer dialog to install the new driver using vendor "HEWLETT-PACKARD" and not "HP", because the foomatic/pnm2ppa driver is only listed there
7. Hope it works! :)

Yes, if you use "http://localhost:631" you won't be able to install the driver cause the only Hewlett-Packard listing is "HP" and you won't get this printer or 722C. Use kaddprinterwizard !

Funny thing, I was checking and it wasn't in my Menu anymore. So I re-added it.

Anyway if it isn't in your path (can't just type kaddprinterwizard), then it is here:

/usr/kde/3.1/bin/kaddprinterwizard

or

/usr/kde/3/bin/kaddprinterwizard

depending on which KDE you have installed. It will run you right thru it.

Add it to your Menu for future reference.

** But first get/do the stuff mentioned above.

"HP" and "HEWLETT-PACKARD" are listed in both, the KDE Wizard and http://localhost:631 for me...
