Hi, all.
I've just done my first install on my Ultra 10, and unfortunately, the box won't boot.
The error message I get is:
Code: |
"Bad magic number in disk label"
"Can't open disk label package" |
After this, the Ultra tries repeatredly to boot from the 'net.
Can anybody help?
Many thanks,
Chris. |

the error seems to be that the sun label is missing.
the guide says that whatever you do with the hard disk, the "Sun .something" label should always be there. boot with your live cd to check if that's the case and if not, do as is mentioned in the guide. _________________ Pdict - dockable dictionary client for linux

Hi,
The Sun partition was there (whole disk), but what you say sounds right. Unfortunately me Gentoo is a thing ogf the past, and Aurora http://auroralinux.org/ is now installed and running nicely.
Thanks,
Chris. |
