|
|
I use an ATI x700 Pro 256mb PCI-E
Code: |
glxinfo | grep rendering
|
glxinfo says that I have direct rendering, but when I run glxgears, the cpu (p4 3.2ghz) usage shoots way up, to about 50%
any ideas/suggestions? |

glxgears is NOT a benchmark tool, use doom3 or quake4 to test your settings. and if that command returns 'Yes', then you DO have 3d acceleration |

fglrxinfo returns the following:
Code: |
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.4.2)
|
shouldn't I be seeing ATI instead?

Have you looked at the HOWTO_ATI_Drivers wiki? It has some things to try if you get mesa3d.org. |

Post any errors (EE) in your Xorg log file. That would help. |

I'm not really getting any errors...
hey, good news:
Code: |
/opt/ati/bin/fglrxinfo
|
gives me:
Code: |
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: RADEON X700 PRO Generic
OpenGL version string: 2.0.5814 (8.25.18)
|
hmm... looks like I'm getting somewhere after all.
I'll give the unreal-tournament 2004 demo a try, and see how it goes |

ut2004 runs, but I get this messages in console:
Code: |
WARNING: ALC_EXT_capture is subject to change!
Xlib: extension "XiG-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD" missing on display ":0.0".
