|
|
Hi
I've just done an emerge --sync and been told to upgrade portage, which I duely have done. Now when I do an emerge with the -v argument, some of the use flags are highlighted in yellow, and have a % sign after their name. I've looked everywhere I can think of, but can't find what this means? I assumed from a long time in the past that the green ones were ones that were active - either becaeuse they were in make.conf or were specified on the command line - but what about this new yellow?
Sorry for this possibly rather dumb question - maybe I just haven't looked in the right place.
Thanks in advance anyway,
Robin

They represent new USE flags for the package which weren't available for the previous version. |

Thank you very much! Now I understand - I thought I hadn't heard of those flags before! Presumably I can enable them if I particularly want - or otherwise just ignore them?
Cheers,

Let me add one more thing: As we all know, a man page is being read with the less tool, which has a search function. (Enter a slash, then your search string, and then hit enter.) If you had man emerge and searched for a percent sign or the string "percent sign", you would have directly come to the solution to your question. _________________ lxg.de – codebits and tech talk |

Hi
Thanks for the info. I tried doing a Code: | man emerge | grep color | and didn't come up with anything - as I assumed it was all to do with the colour coding - it wasn't until I posted this post that I realised about the %'s after it.
Thanks anyway
