emerge -upD world wants to pull in this xorg-server version. Does it work with the latest ati-drivers? (Current version is 1.0.2-r4) Or do I have to expect problems?
Thanks, Val. |

If you use proprietary drivers from ATi or nVidia you will expect problems ranging from the server not starting, to text in programs not displaying correctly.
This link will give more information on the specific issues:

As to when that release happens is anyone's guess, but there are currently beta 9xxx Windows drivers, so probably not too long now. No idea on the ATI front, I don't have any ATI cards supported by their drivers. |

Thanks! I added this to my package.mask:
Code: |
=x11-base/xorg-server-1.1.0
=x11-base/xorg-x11-7.1
=x11-drivers/xf86-video-vesa-1.2.0
=x11-drivers/xf86-input-keyboard-1.1.0
=x11-drivers/xf86-input-mouse-1.1.1
=x11-drivers/xf86-video-vesa-1.2.1
=x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev-1.1.2-r1
|
and will wait until it is safe to upgrade. |
