Hello everybody
After the latest sync I found that there exist two conflicting packages on my system. These are :
Code: |
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[blocks B ] sys-apps/pam-login (is blocking sys-apps/shadow-4.0.15-r2)
[ebuild N ] perl-core/ExtUtils-MakeMaker-6.30.01 216 kB
[ebuild U ] sys-apps/shadow-4.0.15-r2 [4.0.14-r1] +nls -nousuid +pam (-selinux) -skey 1,264 kB
[ebuild U ] dev-libs/nss-3.11-r1 [3.9.2-r2] 4,885 kB
Total size of downloads: 6,367 kB

I always thought that sys-apps/pam-login was critical to the operation of the system. Is it safe to remove it and does that mean that it`s been deprecated in favour of sys-apps/shadow?
thx, in advance

I can confirm that. pam is blocking shadow.
In such cases i usually give the devs a couple of days, and then sync again. If the problem persists we can raise the profile of the bug. Dont remove pam. If you want to upgrade the box and upgrade the packages independent of either shadow or pam. |
