My production machine is broken, big time (thank god it can still run apache):

All I did was reboot, so that I could take advantage of the latest nvidia drivers...I had not rebooted in ~7 days, and have updated my system about 2 days ago and again this morning.

I cannot provide an emerge --info for the following reason:
This is what happens when I emerge, env-update, revdep-rebuild, or anything portage related:

Code:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 12, in ?
    import portage
  File "/usr/lib/portage/pym/portage.py", line 7127, in ?
    init_legacy_globals()
  File "/usr/lib/portage/pym/portage.py", line 7093, in init_legacy_globals
    mtimedb = load_mtimedb(f)
  File "/usr/lib/portage/pym/portage.py", line 7018, in load_mtimedb
    d = mypickle.load()
cPickle.UnpicklingError: invalid load key, '5'.

I need any temporary work-around, and asap. Brain-storming will help too.

My system is a Penium4 SMP 3Ghz.
I was running ~x86 with gcc-3.4.6 and glibc-2.3.6 (both latest revisions. Portage was 2.1-rc3. Python was also the latest.

I will post if I find a work-around.

Quote:
/usr/portage/sys-apps/portage/files $ cat README.RESCUE
Please see http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/portage/doc/manually-fixing-portage.xml
for a recovery guide for a broken portage installation.

Thanks for the link! I tried that out, but it turns out that my problem is deeper.

Yeh, I know....I have had my system set up for a year now, and if I were to start over, I would utilize package.keywords....

Thanks so much for finding that! It fixed my system.

I think that I am slowly going to "stabilize" this system from this day on.
