KDE takes hours to compile, but I was wondering if I could refine the choice of kde apps I want to compile. Example : after installing kdelibs and kdebase, I only want to build kmail related stuff from kdenetwork, and I don't care about ksirc. But I have to compile the whole kdenetwork package. I think we could avoid hours of compilation for KDE if we could choice the parts of kde packages we want to build. Do you think it is possible, and do you think it could work with Portage (ebuild with local use flags such as -noksirc) ? |

i think you can simply edit the ebuild to your needs. take a look around the forums, there are other post where this is disussed. |

Just use
Code: | export DO_NOT_COMPILE="ksirc kppp kdict kit etc etc"
emerge kdenetwork |
You can get the name of the applications from this page http://docs.kde.org/ though some are missing and some have different name |
