Hi all,
OpenOffice 1.0.2 worked fine on my machine but since I've ermerged 1.0.3 it's been terribly slow. Startup is just the same as always but once loaded the interface takes 5 seconds or more to respond to any click. This is using the same optimisations I used with 1.0.2 so I'm not quite sure what is happening. Any clues? |

Huh.
I always found OO to be extremley slow anyway. Still, that is a strange problem. Wish I could help yah.
Given as how I was just about to emerge OO it might be nice to know if this a bug that could be fixed.

| Have you tried v1.1 beta of OOo? I get better performance since I switched. Plus it's really nice, and seems stable enough. You can get it by emerging openoffice-bin in unstable mode (you know, ACCEPT_KEYWORDS='~arch'). |

I'd like to add that a binary OpenOffice 1.1Beta outperforms a compiled OpenOffice 1.0.x in my experience on all of my machines, which range from pentiums to athlons.

Are you doing anything else in the background? I had the exact same problem while emerging another app. After I was done emerging, OpenOffice was fine. |

No I wasn't doing anything else and I tried a couple of reboots and reinstalls to no effect. I've installed the binary version of OO 1.1beta now and it runs like a dream so the problem seems to be fixed anyway. It's probably just my box if this has never happened to anyone else  |
