|
|
Well, I guess I getting ready to learn a valuable lesson. I read the manpage on emerge and "emerge depclean" seemed like a good thing to do for some house-cleaning. Well, I executed it, it unmerged a bunch of stuff and we I rebooted I got a whole bunch of errors -- one being that eth0 didn't exist. I tried to execute /sbin/modprobe only to find it is GONE!
Soooo, my questions are these:
1. Is there a log somewhere listing what the "emerge depclean" removed so I can put it back?
2. If there's not a log, how do I find out what to emerge to restore modprobe and whatever other important files were removed?
3. When, if ever, is it appropriate to use "emerge depclean"?
I am looking forward to getting my Gentoo back! Please help... |

Thanks! Everything's great! I'm starting to really appreciate Gentoo -- even when you dig yourself a hole, it's often pretty easy to dig yourself out -- with a little good advice of course... |
