I dualboot WinXP with gentoo and I've noticed an annoying pattern when it comes to initializing the mouse. When I boot XP multiple times, the mouse always works. When I boot gentoo, the mouse fails to initialize once in two boots. And when I go from gentoo back to XP, it will never load on the first boot so I have to boot XP a second time.
In gentoo, I have gpm on so that I can see whether it's working before I start X.
Any ideas? _________________ undvd - ripping dvds should be as simple as unzip

Hello,
I can't understand how your gentoo mouse settings is affecting your windows setting and vice-versa. This might be a problem with your bios setting and neither gentoo or windows.
Perhaps if you provided further information as to when this started and what mouse settings in XF86Config looks like it might eliminate this mystey. Also further information about your mouse specifications wouldn't hurt.

Those times the mouse fails to load, there is no /dev/psaux device. I have one of those wheelmice which are impossible to get working properly in linux (the wheel that is), I've tried all kinds of drivers and that might have messed something up for all I know. _________________ undvd - ripping dvds should be as simple as unzip |
