Hi there.
There is a problem vith come ebuilds:

This is the output for dssi-vst:

This is the output for ardour-cvs:

It seems it doesn't download the latest ardour-cvs archivie
The "standard" version of ardour doesn't work neither:

Almost everything else has worked great for me, even the stuff that I edited the ebuilds for to try compiling them on amd64 (Wired is an unfortunate exception -- man, I wanna try that program).

Other little problems with some ebuilds:

this is for museseq-cvs (I didn't try museseq, because it segfaults on start)
Code:
>>> Emerging (1 of 7) media-sound/museseq-cvs-0.9 to /
>>> checking ebuild checksums ;-)
>>> checking auxfile checksums ;-)
>>> checking miscfile checksums ;-)

Logging in to :pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:2401/cvsroot/lmuse
 * Running  cvs -q -f -z3 -d ":pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/lmuse" checkout  muse
cvs [checkout aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any)

!!! ERROR: media-sound/museseq-cvs-0.9 failed.
Call stack:

  cvs.eclass, line 503:   Called cvs_fetch
  cvs.eclass, line 338:   Called die

!!! cvs checkout command failed
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.

This is for portaudio (dependancy of csound and wired), even if deleting the file in /usr/portage/distfiles and re-digesting it
Code:
>>> Emerging (1 of 8) media-libs/portaudio-19 to /
>>> checking ebuild checksums ;-)
>>> checking auxfile checksums ;-)
>>> checking miscfile checksums ;-)
>>> checking pa_snapshot_v19.tar.gz
!!! Digest verification failed:
!!! /usr/portage/distfiles/pa_snapshot_v19.tar.gz
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
!!! Got: 621096
!!! Expected: 566509

The link for wsynth seems to be still down. Still have to try bristol, wired and the other programs giving troubles to other users.
thank you

can you specifiy which ebuilds and what you've changed for building on amd64?
So I can add the keyword for them
Thx

I get a segfault with bristol-0.9.4.1, so I installed back the 0.9.1 vresion. When starting it with startBristol -audio jack, I get the same white screen, and a message:
Code:

/opt/bristol/bin/startBristol: line 146:  5021 Relais brisé (pipe)    bristol $* -engine

I believe at it has to do with the preset of jack. I must not use the same parameters as those needed by bristol or something like that.

When starting with "/opt/bristol/bin/startBristol -b3 -audiodev jackplug -seq -mididev 16.0" and the same parameters for jack, it work. I must do a "kill bristolengine" after I have ended the program, but otherwise it work fine. I was not able to use jackplug with the 0.9.4.1, so I went back to 0.9.1.

Something else, I have just found soma, a program for activist. It can play audio files on a web or air radio. It seem to be in use on Indymedia.ch for the webradio and have both a console and a X interface. http://www.somasuite.org/

this error is due to the unreliability of the sourceforge.net cvs servers

Sorry evermind for posting again but the version of seq24 in the overlay is outdated. Can you
bump it to 0.8.6?

Also, is someone else here interested to create a microKorg configurator in qt?
I am talking for an equivallent of the mac/win midi configuartor. It shouldn't be
very difficult, just sending and receiving midi signals from the bus and a pretty gui.

evermind -

Here is the list of stuff that compiles and runs on amd64:

chionic
wsynth-dssi
jackbeat
rtsynth
tkeca
jackEQ
jackmix
amb-plugins
om
ghostess
nekobee
smack
whysynth
gnuitar
simsam
omins
patchage
gwc
frinika
kluppe
njl-plugins
hexter
xsynth-dssi

Additionally, vst-sdk compiles fine, but I haven't tried to use it. If anything in that list is not actually in your portage overlay, I apologize: I just did an emerge -upv world and typed out anything in media-sound, media-libs, and media-plugins that was listed as being non-upgradable due to missing keywords.

As far as bristol is concerned: yeah, I was using JACK when I tried to load Bristol. No matter; the new version works just fine. Thanks for keeping up this overlay, evermind. It's been a lifesaver.

btw, are you the evermind from ssmt?

I tried to emerge ardour-cvs but it asks me for gtk+-1.2. Is it possible to upgrade either of the ebuilds (ardour or ardour-cvs) for ardour2 beta?
Thanks a lot!

Also i am trying to migrate from a cubase based setup to a linux setup. I only need a midi sequencer for my
hardware setup and a recording facility. I found seq24 as the best midi sequencer (both rosegarden and museseq are very crap)
and i would like an easy way to record and do the audio sequencing plus some effects (reverb delay and reverse are the absolut minimum).
Is ardour the best solution? Is there a usable (aka no rosegarden or muse) software that can do midi/audio sequencing and recording?
Thanks a lot!

hmm, i get a strange error from ardour2-cvs. It compiles fine w/o vst support here, but
Quote:
└» LC_ALL=POSIX ardour2
/usr/bin/ardour2: line 7: /var/tmp/portage/ardour2-cvs-1/image///usr/lib/ardour2/ardour.bin: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/ardour2: line 7: exec: /var/tmp/portage/ardour2-cvs-1/image///usr/lib/ardour2/ardour.bin: cannot execute: No such file or directory

o.O
..the prefix is set right it seems, also destdir...
that should be sed'ed right in the ${D}/usr/bin/ardour2 script before it gets qmerged.

Code:
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies -
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "=======".
(dependency required by "media-sound/ardour2-cvs-1" [ebuild])

Thanks for your time btw!
