I am having problems setting up my Epson 2400 scanner.
After I enable the USB 1.1 & USB 2.0 controller in the
BIOS and boot-up the system the kernel hangs and the following message is displayed:
Starting devds
Mounting tmpfs at mnt.init.d
USB_control/bulk_msg: timeout
USB.c: USBdevice not accepting new address=2 (error=-110)
Caching server dependencies
hub.c new USB device 00:10:3-4, assigned address 3
System hangs right here.
If I disable the USB 2.0 controller then the Gentoo kernel starts fine. I have enabled USB scanner support in the kernel and the appropriate driver. The Gentoo kernel cannot find or enable the USB ports. The USB ports have been checked and they are functioning.
Is there another part of the kernel that will enable the USB ports?
