This is my first attempt to set up a RAID 1 system on a PPC. I have set up RAID systems many times on x86 machines, however I seem to fail miserably on the PPC platform. My main problem is that there doesn't seem to be a RAID autodetect (type fd on the x86 platform), and as a result the RAID 1 set I'm trying to set up is not recognized upon boot. Btw, the goal is to have a RAID1 root partition. I'm just learning mac-fdisk and I successfully used it to create a RAID set (and subsequently installed the system on it), but upon reboot the RAID set is not recognized. When I use parted to configure the partitions, the raid flag is not available.
Any idea on how to get a RAID1 root working is greatly appreciated. |

Did you ever figure this out? I have the same questions about using mac-fdisk and not having partition type fd. |
