I installed gentoo on my laptop and i think i i got the splash image file path wrong. how can i go in on a livecd or something and fix it? i haven't used linux in a while and im just getting used to it again |

Hi !
First, boot with the liveCD. Use the installation guide in the chroot section in a console (mounting disks, proc, chrooting). Once in your chrooted console, edit /boot/grub/grub.conf and correct the path. Then reinstall grub in your MBR :

grub> root (hd0,x)
grub> setup (hd0)
grub> quit
|
where x is the number of your boot partition (starting with 0). |

Just so you know, GRUB does not need to be reinstalled every time the config file is changed. This is one of the many advantages GRUB has over LILO. |
