I have several machines, but I have one that is showing some odd behavior when I run 'emerge --sync'
Everything is normal until it gets to the end where it shows the % counting up. When it reaches 49 it takes nearly 5 minutes to get to 50 and nearly 10 more minutes before it gets to 54 then resumes normal speed on the count up.
It has been doing this for a while and I just cannot figure out why this one machine does this. It has SATA drives with the /usr disk about 8% full, and is a 3.6GHz machine. The disks are not getting hit when the percentaging freezes, and there are no other sign of any other kind of resource limitation, ie not out of memory or disk space or anything.
Puzzling, really.

I'm having the same problem, but I never reported this because I thought it was a normal behaviour ... _________________ Ep2.nl | Developers Community |

Well, I have 14 machines and this is the only one that does it...
It isn't killing me or anything, but would be curious to figure out what is doing it.

this happens to me too... but only when my last sync was sometime ago, meaning there are too many new packages to updates, if I do a sync now and maybe a sync later in a few hours, there could be only a couple of packages to update and it's quick... but in a normal use of sync, it's not. |
