Hi,
I have a little problem when trying to shutdown -r now on my Toshiba 5200-701. The kernel shuts down okay, last message is "remounting left file systems read only" or something like it. Then the screen turns off for a sec and then I see some strange ASCII-Art on the screen All sorts of colors show up on the screen in form of squares (in the sice of letters), I think the resolution is the "normal" console resolution without framebuffer (i use these)... Its like a "chessfield" with approx. 40x30 fields blinking and changing colors... sorry, cannot express it more professional
This problem occured first with 2.4.19 with ACPI patch and the old nvidia-drivers (not 63, the version before that). But now I am using a WOLK kernel (4.0, 2.4.20) with ACPI and the latest NVIDIA drivers (...63) but the same problem occurs
I guess it has something todo with the newer XF86 version, I cannot quite put a finger on it, but I think it first occured after I upgraded to 4.3... (I use the newest emergable version).
shutdown -h now doesn't produce this problem.
Does anyone know how to fix it? _________________ if only I could fill my heart with love... |

did you enable "Toshiba laptop support" in the kernel-configuration? |
