I am not sure what kind of ram (and for which machine it was build ) it is but is 168 pin ECC DIMM. Their owner claims (but not sure) that it is for compaq 5000, 5500,6000 or IBM 325
Pin setting is: 10, hole ,30, hole, 44
Whill it work on Ultra 5/10?
BTW: Ram is in 6-pack. Box has label: COMPAREX DKC-F310I-256 SN: 14938

Unless it's 3.3V 50ns EDO ECC 168-pin DIMM no.
And only then maybe.

So I will not even bother trying them. Is there any non-Sun 168 pin ram that will (for sure) work on U5/10? I herd a gossip that ram from some ia64 machines can work...

I'm running some netfinity ram on mine, 7000 M10 or so.

Does this ( http://www.memoryx.net/01k8045.html ) mean that memory from IBM Netfinity 7000, 7000 8651-xxx, 7000 M10 8680-1Rx, 2Rx, 3Rx, 4Rx, 5Rx, 6Rx, 7Rx, 8Rx, Data General Aviion 3700 will also work?

...gues not. Well it is not urgent anymore. I read sun docs and found that U5/U10 can run both 50ns and 60ns. Is it true or just error in doc?

I am still hunting for cheap 128/256(yes I know) RAM modules.

I'd had to pop open my sun to check the part numbers and won't do any time soon, so i can't say for certain in any way.
Basically for faster (400mhz+) processors you mostly need 50ns.

Yes, they will take the 50ns ram.
My ultra5 is running some Kingston ram kts7038/512 |

It's O.K.
You said that more powerfull processors 440/400 need 50ns. Do you mean that IF 60ns would run on U5/10 they would not work with those processors or simply they would be less efficient?

I just got 2*128 MB oryginal SUN RAM. Now I know that both 50ns & 60ns are available for Ultra 5/10. My question is how can I check if I have 50ns or 60ns. The label is damaged by the time and I can not read anything from it. I do have some other Sun RAM modules and either label says "50ns" or nothing at all.
