I'm thinking of putting gentoo back on a home machine after about a two-year hiatus from Linux. Obviously, I have a fair amount of catching up to do, but I thought I'd see if I could get a couple of quick questions answered before I start poring over docs again:

1. What's the state of support for Centrino wireless? It looks like there's a driver now, but I couldn't tell if it was official or universal.

2. How are the various PVR projects coming along? I had some frustration with MythTV a couple of years ago, mainly because (I think) the guide format hadn't been finalized. Has this stabilized in the interim?

Thanks!

Works perfect. Not sure it's "an official driver" since the ipw2200 driver comes from http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/ ...

I am currently using mythtv quite happily. Make sure to get version 0.19. There are still a few bugs, and it segfaults every now and then when using MythMusic, but other than that it's quite stable.

Thank you, as well. Time to get installing, I suppose.

Well, as soon as I get a new motherboard for the myth box. :/

I used Ubuntu for a long time too. I like my Gentoo Install WAY better. I always felt stupid using my Ubuntu install

My friend vowed to never put Linux on his laptop again. I made a bet that he couldn't last 2+ days without Linux. (He loves tinkering with Gentoo).

He owes me money.

gentoo runs flawless on my Sony Vaio. For me it was quite hard to set up my wireless connection, but only because I never had anything to do with an WLAN connection before so I knew nothing about it.
Second install was without any problems so... welcome back ;)
