Qual opção no portarge testing eu uso no lugar de emerge -i ?

Essa era a antiga opção --inject do emerge, certo? Neste caso, acidione uma entrada para o pacote de seu interesse no arquivo /etc/portage/profile/package.provided.

É um ebuild feito por ti?

Se for ou se for um que não esteja na portage tree, lê isto:

Senão um emerge --oneshot deve fazer o que percisas

Eu quero é usar o meu kernel.

Antes era só eu fazer emerge -i sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.15-r1

Você colocou esta entrada naquele arquivo?

Note que uma entrada com operadores, como

não funciona.
